My new bestseller

After last year’s bestseller (bestselling self-published fundraiser book at my kids’ school in 2020-21), I faced the ‘difficult second album’.

I knew it was going to be about squirrels, since they are clearly the greatest of the animals. But what would the story be?

Then it hit me. A squirrel gets lost in an airport!

I think the idea came from all the time I’ve spent watching squirrels in Victoria Park, where planes going in and out of Belfast City Airport roar overhead.

The other thing that might have been in the back of my mind was the rat I once saw wandering around at the end of a long corridor in Amsterdam Schiphol airport.

Add in a real-life drama that happened to our family in an airport, and I had a plot.

Like last time, I asked the kids to do some illustrations for the cover and a designer, Eileen Neill, added her magic. Here are some of the originals, with the covers.

I think there’s more mileage in this ‘squirrels-in-places’ thing, so the pressure is on for squirrquels, I mean sequels. Wish me luck!
